Dr. Seward reacts with anger and disbelief as Van Helsing reveals that Lucy has become an Un-Dead vampire who has been attacking children. They visit a hospitalized child with bite marks, then spend the night in the churchyard where they find Lucy's coffin empty; later they witness her as a white figure carrying another child. The next day they return to the tomb, find Lucy's body looking radiantly alive with sharpened teeth, and Van Helsing explains her unique state while planning to involve Arthur and Quincey in the destruction; a note from Van Helsing warns of the male vampire's danger.
