Alice approaches a noisy house where she encounters two liveried footmen exchanging a croquet invitation from the Queen to the Duchess. She enters the chaotic, pepper-filled kitchen, meets the Duchess nursing a baby while the Cook throws objects, then receives the baby which gradually turns into a pig. Alice leaves it in the woods and meets the Cheshire Cat, who explains that everyone in Wonderland is mad and directs her toward the March Hare's house.
